Come Join Our Pack!
There are many reasons to join Pack 554: To help them learn to be part of a team, to reinforce ethical decision-making, to teach goal-setting and how to lead others. It’s great if our kids are smart and athletic, but in the end what matters is that they are good people. Scouting helps do that.
In Cub Scouting, young boys, girls, and their families have fun and adventure in a program that builds character and instills values. Cub Scouting embraces the values of citizenship, compassion, cooperation, courage, faith, health and fitness, honesty, perseverance, positive attitude, resourcefulness, respect, and responsibility. These values are taught in all parts of the Cub Scout program – all while your child is having a great time with their friends and other Scouting families. The Search Institute has identified forty building blocks of healthy development that help young people grow up healthy, caring, and responsible. The 40 Developmental Assets applied to Cub Scouting can be found here.
The Tuft's project surveyed nearly 1,800 Cub Scouts and nearly 400 non-Scouts under age 12 using both interviews and survey data.
The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
On my honor, I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.
A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.
